So one day I went to tumblr.com and I clicked on an icon I had never clicked on before and I found my inbox! Ha! Ha!
To everyone who has ever asked me anything: I’m not a jerk, just a dummy. I’m sorry.
cakemeex asked you: I think it means more when you’re not asking anonymously, but anywho. You’re a really talented artist. Love it. <3
Thank you!
cokeyvincent asked you: Your style reminds me of Chris Ware! Do you get that a lot? >.>
Yes! I do get that a lot. He’s one of my favorite cartoonists. Some other artists who have had an embarassingly obvious effect on me: Joost Swarte, Hergé, de Chirico, Moebius, Eleanor Davis, Henry McCausland, Jillian Tamaki, Sammy Harkham, Eyvind Earle.
josedavidmorales asked you: Hi Sophia. I love your work and i would like to know what are the techniques you use for your work, as i am an illustrator too and i am very interested in the process.
Thanks! I work mostly digitally on a Wacom Cintiq. I scan sketches from my sketchbook, assemble them in Photoshop, draw a ton of guide lines for perspective, ink everything digitally, color, add some scanned-in ink/graphite texture, and tweak colors forever. I used to do lots of watercolor and printmaking (woodcut and silkscreen) but haven’t had the time lately.
rghayat-i asked you: That BWH&H piece is fantastic! I love the drummer most of all.
Thanks! I had fun drawing it.
vanessamakesthings asked you: I really love your work from one SF illustrator to another! :) It’s awesome!
Hey thanks, same to you!
iwillmissthedinosaurs asked you: You got any of those riso prints left? Do want.
Hi Jesse, you must have asked me this literally almost a year ago. I am sorry. :C
The ones I have left are all misregistered, but I’m probably going to do 2-3 more images in this series for TCAF this year, and they’ll be better than the ones I did last year, so I will set some aside for you!
Anonymous asked you: Do you do work on commission? I like your everything.
I wish I could. I think it would be an interesting challenge. At the moment, I don’t have the time to do personal commissions. I occasionally do freelance jobs if I can. You’re always free to email me.
